Georgian Gold Cased Seal with Carnelian Intaglio of Two Dove Birds and Love feed-gender-unisexA wonderful late Georgian seal, circa 1820s with its original split ring. Both the split ring and the seal have a lovely decorated repousse work. On its Carnelian base are two doves facing each other and the word LOVE above. Doves mate for life and are considered a symbol of lasting love and devotion. This romantic piece is believed to have been used as a betrothal for marriage.
