Mazzei, Concerto Fonterutoli Vintage:2015The Mazzei 2015 Concerto di Fonterutoli opens to a darkly concentrated appearance and thick layers of blackberry fruit and black cherry. In a sense, the 2015 vintage is a more refined version of 2011. This wine shows a voluptuous and exuberant personality with sweet tannins and lots of rich fruit. I would say that 2015 marks the end of a chapter that saw very voluptuous and rounded wines up until this date. The wine becomes more streamlined and tight

with incipient tertiary notes

green apple and plenty of citrus influence

This was initially dominated by inviting scents of burnished wood

Full-bodied and rich

This is quite aromatically similar to the Corton with perhaps just a bit less sauvage character

tannic and austere vintages from this estate

displaying intense boysenberry

while slight hints of volatility linger on the finish

earth and underbrush aromas

with a great beam of macerated red currant fruit laced with licorice

pure style of wine to drink over the next 10-15 years

On the plus side there is both good freshness and verve to the delicious and solidly concentrated medium weight flavors that offer fine persistence on the clean and dry if only moderately complex finish
