With most of the beach cleared out for the day and quiet, there's nothing like taking a stroll on the sand after dinner to watch the setting sun and the tide coming and going. I stopped in my tracks when I saw these benches and knew this is what I wanted to paint that morning

They really are the quintessential New England flower of summer

I distinctly remember the afternoon I took this photo in 2020

thinking it would be a good painting subject

and you could start to see and feel the changing of the seasons in the air

she decided to give Nana a hand in watering the marigolds in the back yard

What drew me to the scene wasn't just the figure but the feeling it captured of a carefree summer day and the simple pleasure of being fully present
